Plug Into Your Personal Vision to Pull You Forward

This past week I had some interesting conversations with clients and friends about feeling stuck, uncertain, overwhelmed or frustrated about changes they’re trying to make in their life.

Have you ever started to work towards making a change in your life – whether it be a move, a new job, to start a new business or to get more organized but got off track or stumbled with road blocks and obstacles? Perhaps it was getting off track with your diet, missing some workouts you committed to or just not following through with a commitment you made. Or perhaps you’re wallowing back and forth between doing something.

I have certainly found myself in this situation and overtime I would start to feel weighted down and apprehensive about doing anything – losing complete focus of what it was I wanted to do in the first place (not to mention being bombarded with negative voices)! And low and behold I was in the same place I was last week. It was like no matter what I tried I just wasn’t getting anywhere.

Recently I’ve stumbled upon some common principles that each one of my personal mentors uses to keep them on track and moving forward towards accomplishing their goals – and with success!

The one particular thing that sticks out is this: they each have a personal vision/purpose for what it is they’re working towards and they understand why they’re doing it and what is personally important about their vision.

So, this is what I’m realizing in my own life – a vision that is close to your heart, filled with more meaning other than to make yourself look good but is for the overall positive benefit of your overall life will pull you forward. And, when you know what is important and exactly what you want combined with why you want it, it makes getting off track almost impossible. Sort of like angels coming from behind to create a straight path as you go.

I’m a big fan of Ralph Marston’s Daily Motivators and he recently wrote something on the subject of purpose that really resonated with me:

“Where there is purpose, there is energy. Actions directed toward a compelling purpose will create a powerful momentum that lines up events and circumstances in your favor. Purpose gives you a reason to get going each day and strengthens your determination to persist when the going gets tough. Purpose pushes you firmly toward your highest level of accomplishment.”

If you look at any great humanitarian leader, you’ll notice they’ve had many obstacles and tribulations along the way. Somehow, they always seemed to get right back on that proverbial horse and try, try again, didn’t they? If they’d been in their cause just for the power or the mo-ney, they may have given up shortly after starting. But I’ll guess that their strong personal vision gave them the strength and determination to keep going, to push through the obstacles and reach their goals, because there was a greater purpose and vision to it all.

I personally think of the women who are finding themselves struggling daily and who are yearning to feel more connected to themselves, loving their life and how I might be helping them to enjoy more high quality living. This is my personal vision for my coaching practice. My vision for my friends and family life is to have consistent, deep, meaningful quality time to spend with them.

You see, a vision doesn’t have to be grandiose and most times it isn’t – it simply has to be a general vision of all the things you’d like for your life, that are in alignment to what is truly important to you.

So, when I see a client who drags their feet or for whom something’s not going well, it’s usually a sign that something’s not quite right, as opposed to just procrastination. Either they’re doing something for the wrong reason or they’re not being true to their purpose/higher vision.

For many, they’ve chosen to ignore the nagging voice within that tells them something’s not right. Perhaps they don’t even know WHAT their purpose or vision is.

My opinion is that when we get away from the things that are truly important to us, doing anything in life is much more difficult.

Now, if this whole idea of visioning is new to you, understand that developing a vision takes time and is a process. Often it takes time to crystallize a vision for ourselves because we’re not used to opening our minds to possibilities that fill us with happiness. Also, a vision that speaks to your true self is scary and nerve racking and therefore avoidance and fears come up. It’s important to recognize that most people will want to shrink (this deserves it’s own topic!).

Your Assignment:

What’s YOUR purpose or personal vision for your life? Here are questions to ask yourself to find your own purpose or reconnect to it:

Close your eyes and connect to your dream place where your life and work are in perfect balance and working 100%. Everything is flowing easily; you feel supported and deeply connected to your authentic self.

  1. What does this look like for you?
  2. What is happening that you love?
  3. What are you spending your time doing?
  4. Who are you with?
  5. What is making you happy?
  6. Who is being affected around you – how are you serving others?
  7. What about all of this is important to you?
Whether it means connecting to it for the first time or simply reconnecting, do what it takes to live as close to your vision as possible, no matter what the setbacks. Tweak the way you do things right now so it feels right and like there’s real meaning in your life. Success will naturally come to you when you do.

Re: Joomla Now Has A GetResponse Module Re: Joomla Now Has A GetResponse Module - Hi Kevin, Interesting that you tried Joomla and then gave up on it. So did I! There is a lot to be said for Joomla. It can make your site look very professional, you can completely change design in just a few clicks of your mouse, and if you add anything to a panel you can display it throughout your site... Also, Joomla does seem to suck in traffic. My traffic stats improved with Joomla, probably because of the interactive features it offers, such as the article directory feature and so on. However, I also experienced various frustrations with Joomla. HTML is simpler and you have complete control over your site, but you do have to recode every page when you make design changes... (unless you are prepared to learn CSS and then deal with all the browser problems...) Also, I market the Plug-In Profits Site and came to the conclusion that it would be better business practice to show my potential customers what can be done with a Plug-In Profits site by using one myself and modifying it to suit my purposes. After all, there is no better advertisement for a product than the fact that the seller also uses it! On the other hand, I know a lot of Internet marketers who love Joomla, so I think it is just a matter of choosing what works best for you. ... And if you like Joomla and use the GetResponse autoresponder service, life just got easier for you! David H

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategies Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategies - Personal development and knowledge are important but as Mat says without action nothing will happen. So don't spend so long learning that you fail to follow through, rather learn as you go along but do something everyday towards achieving your goal. MichelleJ
