What is your focus on? (and How it Affects Your Confidence and Faith In Yourself)

What is your focus on? (and How it Affects Your Confidence and Faith In Yourself)

I have a confession to make. I'm going to lay it out there so that you can learn from my misperception. I recently had a 1:1 private session with my own coach. As with my own client's, my coach had me fill out my progress form before the session. I took my time with it and felt confident about clarifying my current situation and writing out my next 3 month goals. I went into my session anxious, prepared and ready to move forward.

About 3 minutes into our call I got busted. She called me out on my feelings of apprehension and uncertainty. You see recently I've been feeling a little "off" and a little intimidated about my next set of goals. I've casted some new hefty commitments to paper and I've been finding myself wondering "can I really do this?"

She immediately felt my vibes and brought me back to focus with the illusive carrot theory. You see, I've been working with this coach on and off over the last 2 years. When I started my coaching practice I had no idea what I was doing. Nadda. My expertise at that point was manual therapy focused. I had no coaching clients. That was about two years ago. That was then.

When I committed to working with her I created a list of intentions and goals for my future. These ideas were set with them being my ideal results. These goals represented the juiciest, most delicious carrot you have ever tasted. The carrot dangled in front of me everyday and I could see my goals on my vision board, through my journaling and through visioning myself having manifested this magnificent carrot.

This is where the tears kick in. I have sad news to report. I did not reach the carrot. The carrot is still dangling there, looking less juicy and even further away. The ideal did not come to manifest. Certain goals were attained however it has been etched in my mind that I somehow failed myself. Deep down my unconscious mind has been sitting in this gap between today and the ideal.

As a result of not reaching the carrot I had become disappointed, frustrated with myself and felt like I'd failed. In some moments my saboteurs have really had their way with me and I have wept thinking "am I really on the right path?" My confidence became chipped and my energy started to wane. Can you relate to this scenario?

My coach had me look at how far I have come since I embarked on pursuing this coaching path to today. All I can say is WOWZA! The difference is just incredible and not just in my life but also in the lives' of the client's I have had the pleasure of coaching.

Truly miraculous in some cases. My client's have pursued new careers that make their heart sing, started businesses that make their heart's and wallets come alive, gained new confidence in themselves that they had never had before, filled their private practices, moved across the globe to start new lives, created more fun and balance, gotten out of debt, found their passion in life, answered an inner calling, started new healthy relationshiops...

My own accomplishments range from having more time off, making more money doing work that I feel I am called to do, presenting workshops that I'm passionate about to filled rooms, achieving my certification designation as a professional coach, joining a very high level mastermind group and the list goes on. And again, WOWZA!

The question then becomes, "Where are you focusing your attention?" Are you paying more tribute to the difference between where you are today and your ideal or are you focusing on your accomplishments?

If you have been feeling anxious, depressed, disappointed, in despair, or depleted you've most likely been focused on the ideal. I have a news flash for you ... the ideal is never reached.

Your Success Assignment

Begin to see your entire life from seeing your accomplishments. Make a commitment not to live in the gap between your beginning point and today. Live in hope and faith! The results are that you will be more confident and you will manifest way more.

Keep a list of what is new and good! Enter in your wins daily - no matter how small, and remind yourself often how far you have come.

Boosting Confidence Boosting Confidence - Confidence is something all of us women could stand to have infused in our blood 24/7! It’s one of those areas that many struggle with the most. Through my coaching practice, I’ve discovered an underlying thread that seems to undermine confidence in some women. It has to do with confusing true confidence with pride or arrogance. Confidence is being sure of who you are and what you are able to do in a way that does not compare yourself to others. It is not dependent on value because every one of us women is valuable. Pride or arrogance is when someone lifts him or herself above others as if they are more valuable than others. It also seems to be related to "approval addiction" where the self esteem must continually be fed by others or they don't feel good about themselves. Thus, some arrogant people put others down so they can see themselves as above. Confidence is simply being all of the great woman you already are. You want to create a great business and you want to do your job well. It is not prideful to be confident in what you are doing. I invite you to give yourself permission to really let your abilities come forward and see what happens to you and your business as a result. I’d also love to hear what methods you have for boosting your own confidence.
Re: Success Re: Success - I study success intently, and would like to share: Here's two excellent and nearly identical success-formulas from a couple of the world's masters. FIRST FORMULA: 1. Passionate Desire 2. Clear, Definite Purpose 3. Committed Decision 4. Take Action In Faith (Bonus Secret Sauce: 5. Repeat Consistently) I made a video about this, but am not allowed to link it yet. Google "Ryze Success Steps" for it. Oh, and this is Napoleon Hill's (Master Of Success Laws)'s Formula. SECOND FORMULA: 1. Passionate Desire 2. Understand It Is Already Done (Faith) 3. Relax & Allow It To Unfold (Go about your life calmly) This one is courtesy of Abraham-Hicks (inspiration for the movie The Secret). Hope that helps!
Re: Focus groups Re: Focus groups - I agree with Kevin.. There are lots of great ways of getting feedback on a new product other than paying for a focus group. I don't have any experience with focus groups personally, however I can't imagine it's going to be cheap. Phil
Re: Quote of the Day - Steve Case (AOL) Re: Quote of the Day - Steve Case (AOL) - You can do it! I run a personal development blog and a lot of my focus is on making sure people know anything is possible. You need to focus on the "can" instead of the "can't" at all times. Great quote!
