Improve Motivation - If Something Works Use It
Once a fortnight I hire a firm of cleaners to come and clean my house. As a single person it might appear to be an unnecessary luxury to hire someone to do what I should easily be able to do for myself. But I know that having them due to call motivates me to sort through that pile of junk mail, tidy my bedroom, put things away. It keeps me on top of the domestic chores that could easily become neglected, left for another day and ultimately over time become a problem. For me the expense is worth it. It motivates me to keep my home tidy.
Things that motivate us and keep us on track are an important part of life. By identifying them we can absorb them into our mindset and use them to achieve our desired aims in life.
- Fitness. As we get older being motivated to be fit becomes more and more important. We need to incorporate fitness into our lifestyle and maintain a healthy regime. Some people pay to join a gym knowing that having paid for twelve months membership they will be determined to get their moneys' worth. For others, going to an exercise class or a gym may be too regimented. Instead, why not get friends involved in a charity walk or run. Organise neighbours into a weekend football match. Enthuse your partner into a regular evening walk where you can enjoy talking and having some together time. If your lifestyle can support it consider getting a dog.
- Losing weight is the goalthat many people need motivation for. Setting a date in the future, and there will always be something that you can use (!), is a good marker to have. A birthday, a special night out, even Christmas or the Summer holidays can be useful. Buy attractive clothing in a smaller size and hang it on your wall to remind you. Put an attractivephotograph on the fridge door, motivational stickers on your bedroom mirror or computer screen. Whatever works use.
- Interest in life can wane if our situation suddenly changes. Being motivated in life can take a blow if our relationship ends or our job or business folds. Taking steps to start again can be tough. Small steps can be useful. Finding people who are in a similar situation can be a help. Find out how they coped, what they did at first. How did that work out for them ? Using social groups can be an important step in making valuable connections from both a friendship and a networking standpoint. Asking other people for ideas and advice can lead to interesting results. We never know who knows who, what connections they have. It could work out well by simply letting people know what you are looking for.
By making a small initial effort we can set into place valuable steps that lead to important results and opportunities. Being motivated by our future potential success can lead to exciting results and an improved quality of life.
