Tips to Find a Job and Career That You Love
It can be challenging to find a job or make big career changes, especially when you're not sure what industry is best for you. Many people spend years in one job and come to realize it is not what they want to do anymore. It is easy to wonder if it's time for a change, but harder to actually quit your job and do something new. Other people on a constant search for a job they love, while never staying in one career too long and finding themselves unfocused.
What is interesting is to take a close look at people who love their work, feel challenged in a good way, and experience great prosperity and abundance. Does it ever feel like that type of career is just a dream? What is the difference between those who take this route and those who stay stuck?
The first thing is to realize that if you want something different, you have to start thinking differently. Once you change your thoughts, you will find yourself changing your choices-from there you can start making different decisions.
To build momentum, it's important to look at what other people you admire have done-and realize that no one has an easy road-but dedication and having a dream can go a long way. The people who accomplished a lot don't have any more time than you, but what they do have is a burning desire. Surround yourself with empowering books, classes, and people. Everyone has some part of them that longs to do something greater, but uncovering it is sometimes the hard part.
From there, you have to allow yourself to start looking for possibilities and have a vision of your ideal job-what is looks like, the hours you work, the people, the location, the pay. Many people start with a vague idea and sharpen it as they go along. Here are some tips for getting started:
Think in possibilities: Focus on what is possible, rather than limitations. Allow yourself to be like a kid and consider what career you would choose. Don't worry about the logistics, just think about the possibilities.
Have a vision: Everyone who ever started any business or concept had a vision in the earliest stages. This is simply an idea in your mind, and it's often a nagging feeling that won't leave you alone. Let your vision form and see where it takes you. You can even take this a further step along by making a vision board. This is a visual representation of everything you want in your ideal career and lifestyle. You can cut out pictures from magazines and paste them to cardboard, making a collage. With your vision in front of you, you'll start to gain clarity and a greater purpose.
Move forward: Taking small steps like talking to others or engaging in a class can bring forth momentum. Most people do not know the end result when they take a big chance, like starting a business, but they do know they have to start somewhere. The most important part is to simply start where you are and keep putting one foot in front of the other. You can't help but gain momentum this way.
