My Favorite Book For Entrepreneurs In 2010

Me with Karim Ismail at my office

I’m a big believer in continual learning and tend to read a lot – blogs, books, ebooks, special reports, whitepapers – you name it! If it will help me move closer to one of my goals then I’ll read it!

I’ve read a lot of great books in 2009 but my favorite by far was “Keep Any Promise” by Karim Ismail. Karim is a Toronto based entrepreneur who I met earlier this year. He gave me a copy of his book when we met and it sat on my shelf for a few months – my only regret was that I didn’t pick it up sooner!

“Keep Any Promise” is more than a book – it’s a blueprint for designing your future. Here is Karim’s story:

“Not too long ago I hit a wall. After enjoying a lot of professional success in my 20’s and 30’s, I arrived in my 40’s with no purpose and could not get out of bed most days.

My health was in poor condition, both mentally and physically. My relationship with my spouse and children was seriously strained. My spirituality was utterly absent. And I was spiraling down a very dark and dreary tunnel. I truly could see no way how I could ever be happy again, which is a scary place to be.

I took a walk one brisk February day determined to answer some very tough questions about myself. I thought, “Why had I been so successful in my professional life, managing large scale multi-million dollar projects with relative ease?”  And, “How could somebody who expertly developed a vision, blueprint, and implementation of these projects, not have the same success in his personal life?”

This blueprint I speak of was my answer to more rewarding personal life. It worked so well in fact, everything changed for the better. Everything.”

“Keep Any Promise” guides you through the process of helping you identify your passions and setting motivating but achievable goals. Most importantly it gives you the mechanisms to make sure you follow through on your goals. It’s easy to make goals but how easy is it to follow through on them?

Even more useful than the book is the workbook that Karim includes for free. I have already noticed significant chances in my life since starting and it’s one of the books that I’ve revisited over the holidays to help refine my plans for 2010.

“I don’t make any money by promoting “Keep Any Promise” and Karim didn’t ask me to mention his book. I’ve just received so much value from it that I wanted to share it you to help you make 2010 your best year yet!”

If there is one book that you should read to get you and your company ready for 2010 I would recommend “Keep Any Promise” – You can buy the book at Amazon or even take a free life quiz that Karim put together to see what areas you need to work on.
