New Videos: How To Model Mary Kay Ash and Hewlett-Packard
I’m really excited to release two new videos from my Modeling the Masters Series! This time we’re going to look at Mary Kay Ash and Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard.

Mary Kay Ash (May 12, 1918 – November 22, 2001) was an American businesswoman and founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc. Raised in a time when few women were in business, let alone successful in business, Ash broke down barriers on her rise up to creating a multi-billion dollar operation.
In its first year, company sales reached $198,000, primarily from sales sessions, or ‘skin care classes’, her sales team would hold in private homes. At the time of Ash’s death, Mary Kay Cosmetics had over 800,000 representatives in 37 countries, with total annual sales over $2 billion at retail. Full blog post.
“Believe you can change the world.” – Bill Hewlett
Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard were university friends who graduated in electrical engineering from Stanford in 1935. Eager to become entrepreneurs, Packard and Hewlett established Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 1939 in Packard’s garage with all the startup money they could put together – a grand total of US$538. They then tossed a coin to decide whether the company would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett.
60 years after its founding, HP has developed a reputation for innovative and reliable products and in 2009 had revenue of $115 billion, making it one of the largest companies in the world. Full blog post.

Evan. That is truly amazing job you have done! It’s really great to see how small companies can become successful in just a few years. You have provided me an inspiration. I have a small furniture business and I have never imagined to become huge or famous. But your work inspires me to march ahead and expand my business.
Very interesting and inspiring article. I am myself an entrpreneur getting started with my business and this is very motivational. Stories like these keep me going no matter what obstacles I encounter on my way!
If you really want to be successful with a business the only thing that you need is to be dedicated and hard working. Oftentimes people are just out there to make a quick buck. The best way to have a successful business is to have a good work ethic. Being lazy will never pay off in the long end, so do not cut corners. Also, clean up and stay organized so everything isn’t as chaotic.
I like all of your articles. I showed this to my daughter who is studying a company secretary course. She is amazed with the method of performance and commented that it is good.
