Graffiti Letters: Will Using Graffiti Hurt My Business? – Ask Evan
By Evan Carmichael on June 30th, 2011
In this video I answer a question from one of my readers Kristopher who asked:
Hey Evan, thank you for such good advice. I am a teen entrepreneur starting a t-shirt business with goals of expanding into a clothing line.
I designed my website, and currently working on my online store. I am constantly soliciting guidance. I also started a blog, and reading your latest article gives me good insight on blogs.
I am also on facebook. I have a personal page, and business page (bubblewear clothing)but I still find it difficult to generate leads & feedback. Please take a look at my fb page, and also look at my site, http://www.bubblewearclothing.com.
The concept of the business is graffiti style lettering with positive messages which I design myself. My demographics are ages 13 – 25.
What are your thoughts regarding using the word graffiti in my business model?
Due to the stigma, do you think it hurts my business?

I’m with you on this Evan! It would be best to focus on your target market and try not to please everybody.
I agree with you. If you put up a business, you would consider the demographic and do your best how you can get the trust of those people interested in your products. Don’t mind those people who will just disappoint you. They are not your target market.
That’s a really good response Evan. I believe it’s better to focus on your target market than pleasing everybody to like your product. I think that’s a good way to start your business.
If the messages are positive then I think it wouldn’t hurt the business at all. I think people would appreciate that, though not all, it would still favor those who like graffiti.
Great response as usual Evan! I believe when you start a business it’s best to focus on your target market first before stepping into a large scale where even those people not into graffiti may like your product. Good luck to the business!
I think graffiti is cool and fun. I’d love to wear one of your shirts. I think you just have to be confident on what you do and I’m sure people will appreciate your products.
I think one good factor in starting a business is having confidence and doing the best to make your product stand out. I think graffiti shirts are unique and probably you can make personalized ones.
Great advice! I totally agree. You just have to focus on making your product better and not on pleasing everybody.
I’m with Evan! I don’t think graffiti won’t hurt your business. When you start a business you should have faith with what you can do and what you can sell to people.
I don’t think it will hurt your business. As long as you make quality products, then your target market will definitely appreciate them.
