The 3 biggest pitfalls for women entrepreneurs

Not ALL women will recognize the pitfalls in this article….but I bet most of them recognize at least one of them.

Maybe you recognize something, too. Read on and see if you do, because these pitfalls are not just draining your energy – they’re bad for your business as well:

Pitfall #1: Making yourself AND your accomplishments much smaller

A lot of women do this. They don’t want to offend anyone, don’t want to promise too much, and don’t want to brag.

It’s a good thing to be modest.

As long as you don’t overdo it.

Own your talents, capabilities and expertise. Believe in your worth and the value of your offer.

If you don’t tell others what you’re good at, and how you can help them, how will they ever know?

And how will they be able to make the decision to work with you?

Telling others what you’re good at is NOT bragging.

It is NOT about making yourself bigger than you are. It’s about showing the real you, WITHOUT making yourself or your accomplishments look smaller.

Pitfall #2: Undercharge and/or over deliver

When you don’t truly own and claim your worth and expertise (see pitfall 1), it’s also hard to believe people will pay you for it.

It becomes scary to promise results and outcomes.

As a result, it’s hard to decide on a price for your products and services. You may feel you give too much or charge too little, but changing it…..that’s just too difficult.

This can totally drain you – andif you charge too little for too long, you can even start resenting your clients, or lose your enthusiasm for your business all together.

Pitfall #3: Worrying about what others think of you

What will they think when I say this? What will they think when I do that?

Will they still like me when I write this / express this opinion / share this point of view / offer this program / say NO to this request / etc.etc.?

Yes, I’ve worried about this myself and sometimes I still do, by the way.

But then I remind myself that it’s a complete waste of time and energy.

No matter what you do or say, there will always be people who love you and people who dislike you for it. So don’t worry. Be you.

It will attract your ideal clients to you. It saves you tons of time and energy. It’s easier than constantly worrying, thinking and over thinking.

This quote from Dr. Seuss will help:

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
