Going Green Saves Green - Meaning Money

Going green can often save you money. In my article “Eco Friendly Does Not Have to Mean More Work” I gave the following list of easy things your company can do to be green. Good news! This same list can also save you money.

o Do you recycle anything rather than pay to haul it to the dump?

o Do you use natural light rather than only rely on electric lights?

o Do you check the air pressure in your company vehicles’ tires to help improve gas mileage?

o Do you suggest people turn the light off as they leave your restrooms?

o Do you print some documents back to back?

o Do you let any of your employees telecommute, thus saving gas?

o Have you planted any trees around your business?

o Do you turn your thermostat up in the summer and down in the winter when your business or company is closed?

o Plus more

Do you wonder how planting trees can save you money? This one is for long range thinkers but depending on where you plant them - as they mature they:

o Provide cooling – reducing air conditioning costs,

o Give protection from winds (assuming the wind does not blow them over),

o Give some protection from things like hail, and

o Might be the perfect sitting spot to come up with your next big money saving/making idea.

Well, it is true, some cost savings are more direct than others but many things you do can serve both the environment and your bottom line.
