4 Time Management Tips To Increase Productivity

Procrastination is one of the great thieves of time and productivity. But poor time management can also result in the loss of these things. It’s easy to get caught up in something which isn’t important and to lose track of the time we have available, and not to be productive. To try and help this, we’ve put together a few tips on how best to maximize your productivity by having better time management.

1) Figure out what is wasting your time

One of the first things you can do to increase your productivity is to make a list of all the things which waste your time, to better improve your time management. If it’s talking to friends on social media, or answering pointless emails, or even just checking the news sites when you have a spare minute, being aware of what can waste your time is essential for making sure that you are more productive with your day.

2) Get a to do list

One of the best ways to effectively manage your time and be a more productive individual is to create a to-do list for every day. Write down all the tasks you want to accomplish that day, and then set reminders on your phone or use software which does it all for you to make sure everything gets done. Not only will you find yourself being more productive, but you'll also have a clear plan of what you need to do, which saves you trying to work out what needs tackling first.

3) Do not multitask

Whereas some people might say that multitasking is a good way to get a lot done in a short time, we would recommend not doing it where possible. The logic behind this being that if you’re trying to do two things at once and constantly switching between them, then you’ll be less likely to get anything done quickly, and you won’t be able to do things to the best of your ability either.

4) Stop using social media during working hours

A good way to make sure that you manage your time effectively is to remove any and all distractions from your working environment. This includes either uninstalling social media apps or staying off of them while you’re at the desk. Spending 5-10 minutes every day checking Facebook can be a really easy way to lose track of time and then come out of the workplace mentality completely, so try and avoid it.

Overall, these are just a few ways in which you can improve your productivity and improve upon your time management skills. Making sure you have a working environment which is free from distractions, and also having a clear and concise idea of what you want to do during each day will help you to be more productive and efficient. It will also hopefully make the working day seem like less of an uncoordinated mess and more of a professional environment that you can flourish in, as long as you take the correct steps to being more responsible about your levels of productivity and time management.
