Tips to Business Goal Setting for female Entrepreneurs

Business goal setting is one of those things that very few people ever get around to doing. I can’t help but wonder why that is. Goal setting and writing down your goals is such an easy thing to do and over and over again there are studies that show the power of goal setting.

I have been writing goals for years in one form or another. They didn’t all have an action plan but it’s amazing how many of the goals over the years have been achieved.

As a female entrepreneur do you think that all the very successful entrepreneurs are goal setting on a regular basis? Wedo!

We think that it is the small things done on a regular basis that makes the difference in whether you achieve success as an entrepreneur or not. Most entrepreneurs still have not realized the power of setting effective business goals.

Without business goals it’s impossible to really know if your daily activities and strategies are moving you in the correct direction. To be a female entrepreneur without business goals is like getting in the car and driving with no idea of where you want to go.

Can you imagine getting in the car to go shopping with no idea of what store you want to go to or where the store is?

Here are a few tips on business goal setting.SMART goals are Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound. While an attainable goal is important, for me to be 6 feet tall is not attainable, many entrepreneurs set their goals to low.

Here are some examples of business goals,

  • Grow business 50% by January 2013.
  • Increase list size by 10,000 by January 2013.
  • Earn (fill in the blank) by the end of the month.
These are just examples to show you what and how to set a business goal.

To make your goal relevant think of what you want your life and business to look like in 5 to 7 years and then work back towards today.Let me explain. What would you like your business and life to look like in 5 years, in 3 years, in 1 year and in 6 months? The short-term goals should support or be relevant to the long-term goals.

In other words what activities you do today should be directly related to your 1 month goal which should help you achieve your 3 month goal and so on.
