5 Smart Ways to Increase Your Income Without Working Extra Hours

The thought of making more money is as pleasurable as drinking fine wine. But then, this dream has not materialized for many people. This is because there are lots of misleading run of the mill make-more-money-experts teaching you the wrong ways to go about it.

They promise to give you the magic wand that could make you earn $500 per hour right from the confines of your room. But most of these programs are a scam to say the least. They either want you to buy some irrelevant products, or want to rip you off your hard earned money by sending you a lot of spam emails.

When I first ventured into online business, I desperately wanted a passive income that would later grow into a full time business. But every product I bought or course I enrolled for weren’t just right for me. So I dropped all of them and continued working harder, perhaps I would just get promoted and start earning more.

But did I get lucky? No.

Eventually, I had to start a career in freelance writing, and that gave me the financial breakthrough I had always prayed for.

But if you don’t want to combine any other job with your regular job or you don’t want to work extra hours, there’s still a way out for you.

Here are 5 smart ways to go about increasing your income without losing a sweat.

1. Spend on a budget

Having a personal budget helps you grow your income. By creating a plan to spend your money, you can control the amount of money you would spend in a particular period. Therefore, it helps you cut out those things you don’t really need.

Generally, having a budget helps you to reach your financial goals, prioritize your spending, build wealth, strengthen your retirement plans and give you peace of mind.

2. Use free tools

This might make you come off as cheap, but then you need to bury your pride and start taking advantage of free tools. The digital world has become so dynamic that there’s an unlimited access to free tools in every business niche you could think of.

Some tools are absolutely free, while some give you access to a trial version for a limited period. Yet some others allow you unlimited access but with restriction to some premium features. With these options, you can enjoy services without having to buy.

3. Pay for quality services

Although quality services aren’t so cheap, you can be rest assured that you’d get the value for your money. On the other hand, using cheap services would make you lose more money on the long run. Most times you’d end up spending more money correcting errors that could have been avoided in the first place.

Before hiring any services, do your research and make sure you’re gunning for the best. For example, if you’re looking for the best pet insurance programme, be on the lookout for pet insurance reviews to choose the best company for both the health of your loved one and your budget. You’d be surprised how much you’d have saved in the end.

4. Increase your savings

Increasing your savings gives you financial freedom. It helps you to prepare for unforeseen events, and ultimately makes you happier. Yet most Americans have less than $1000 in savings, and over 20% don’t even have a savings account. I’d say that the reason for this is people’s lack of awareness on the several ways to increase savings.

Here are smart ways to increase your savings: improve your credit score, use promo codes, coupons and discounts, buy in bulk and consider buying fairly used items.

5. Do it yourself

Apart from the joy that that’s derived from completing projects by yourself, you could also increase your income through DIY activities. Instead of hiring people to fix things in the home, you could do those things yourself and keep the money.

Common DIY projects you could easily handle include house painting, gardening, sewing, and plumbing. Although you might not end up spending much to get these things done, the money would still be useful for other complex projects that you can’t handle.
