Stop Workplace Drama: Tips for Dealing with Conflict

Workplaces can be stressful. Conflicts between co workers sometimes arise and it can make it impossible to get things completed. Dealing with conflict is hard, but can be done if you follow a few easy tips.

Tips to Stop Workplace Drama

Finding the source of the conflict is the first step towards solving the problem. Do you have a fundamental disagreement with this person? Or do you just work differently?

The next thing you need to do is approach the person you have a conflict with. Stopping workplace drama starts with addressing the situation. Discuss the problem you are having with this person.

Listening to what your co worker has to say is vital. If you only talk about the issues you are having with them, they will feel attacked and blindsided. You need to listen to their response to better understand where they are coming from.

If having a conversation with your co worker doesn’t help, you need to bring in a third party. This person can mediate another conversation and try to help solve the conflict from an outside perspective. Ideally, this would be a manager or boss, but it could also be someone else on the team.

Call a truce if nothing else works. Sometimes moving on from the situation will allow you to work together again. This isn’t the best solution, but it is sometimes necessary to help keep things moving.

Using these tips, you should be able to solve any workplace conflict that arises. Drama in the workplace will always be around, but it doesn’t have to restrict you from performing at your best. Workplace conflict may slow you down, but dealing with it as quickly as possible is the best way to handle it before it starts to grow.
