Real Estate Marketing Strategies: Prospecting Made Easy

In years gone by, it didn't matter if you actively prospected. The market was good and deals fell easily into your lap. Many real estate agents did well in those years because their inability to prospect was not challenged. These days, your survival depends on picking up the phone. If you try to kid yourself that emails and mailings are enough, your business will go under.

Remember that your thoughts create your reality. When you are in a scarcity mindset, you tend to short change yourself from services you desperately need. You fall prey to the beliefs, "I can't afford coaching." Or, "I need to pay my bills."

It's a very seductive belief but it is false because it ignores the fact that you need a foundation in your house (your mindset) before you can put on the roof. You end up telling yourself an absurd statement, like, "When I close a transaction, then I'll get coaching." But how are you going to close a transaction when you have the baggage of self-limiting beliefs?

In this economy more than any other, you can't afford to be carrying any negativity, either on a conscious or subconscious level. It doesn't matter what the media is saying, what matters is what goes on inside your head. You need help getting the right beliefs into your head.

Here are some common mistakes that may stop you from prospecting:

1. You don't have faith in yourself as a real estate professional.

2. Your faith in real estate is low because you have probably been watching the news and the "doom and gloom" energy has permeated your consciousness.

3. You have underestimated the impact that your self-limiting beliefs have on your ability to market yourself. This can happen because your self-limiting beliefs are hidden. If you learned as a child; "don't talk to strangers", that belief can be behind your fear of picking up the phone.

4. Thinking that you can do this on your own. This is like an Olympic athlete thinking that they can improve their skills without a coach. We often need an outside objective to see our blind spots.

To get yourself on the phone and prospecting you need to:

• Believe in your unique value as a real estate professional

• Stop the addiction to the news

• Find out what your subconscious self-limiting beliefs are and get help removing them

• Believe in the opportunities in today's marketplace so when you get on the phone, you'll have positive energy to present.

• Before getting on the phone, make a list of Intentions and what you are grateful for.

In conclusion, keep in mind the famous quote from Henry Ford: "Whether you believe you can or you can't, either way you're right".

The same is true of your relationship to prospecting. You can make it hard or you can make easy.

• "I can create success through prospecting"

• "I love to prospect!"

• "Prospecting is easy and effortless"

• "Prospecting is an easy way to bring ideal clients into my business"

...you will make prospecting easy and enjoyable.

Make it easy on yourself by cultivating a positive mindset and believe: "I can do it!"
