Our last GUTSY WOMEN WEEKEND program of the year is coming soon. The program is for women who want to make an impact and stand up to be heard.
Leadership is demanding and disciplined and GUTSY gives you the way OUT of the darkness of despair and disgust when situations simply go astray.
Take Karen for example. She was recently promoted to President of a specialty jewelry company. Her second in command had fallen down the rabbit hole and was just about useless. He talked a good game and mucked up just about everything he touched. They had talk after talk and Karen was now ready to send him on his way.
However, fate snuck in with other plans.
There was some expensive platinum shipped for the master jeweler to design special wedding rings for several customers. Everyone was on the alert and shipping knew how to handle.
So what went wrong when the platinum was nowhere to be found?
The head of shipping was a soft spoken gentleman who had only been with the company for three months. It all smelled fishy and Karen had to take a strong stand. She put the shipping head on probation till the search and research could be done. He had not followed protocol. Was he guilty?
Security was called in to find out.
In the meantime Karen called Tony in and did something she rarely did. She asked for help. Not only did she ask for help she let Tony know that his head was ready for the chopping block and this could be his ticket to renewed trust and ultimate success.
Karen told Tony to go over all of his notes from prior leadership programs and she even gave him a copy of GUTSY. “It is a quick read and you just might see yourself in here. Just change all the stuff about women and hormones to male testosterone."
With that, she left for a meeting across the country and with a flick of her wrist wished him great success for the week she would be gone.
Tony was like that understudy who finally got a chance to soar. Her willingness to take a GUTSY risk paid in dividends.
Oh yes, do you wonder what ever happened to the platinum? Tune in Monday for the rest of the story.
