Its Time For Women To Lead in America in Entrepreneurship

This is a call to action for women across America. This is our chance - our one chance to shatter the glass ceiling and take control of our own work/life balance and start our own business. Entrepreneurship is the answer to controlling our destiny in the workplace. The success of one woman entrepreneur provides the opportunity for the next woman entrepreneur so women need to make this happen for their daughters and/or granddaughters. Men of daughters understand how critical this time is for women to find their place - to reach their true calling and potential. Too many young women don't see the obstacles that still stand in their way to the top. They don't know the history of the women's movement and the years of struggle that women before them have fought as female role models are not often applauded. Women must support other women in the battle for an equal wage and opportunities for family/leave programs. Small business and family are the foundation of the American value system even though our government too often forgets its importance. Today 60% of the wealth holders in America are women and 85% of the consumer purchasing power is in the hands of women. Understanding the "what women want" is basic to the question of how we can succeed in business. Every time a woman starts a business and receives funding, whether bank or venture capital, it sets the path for the next woman entrepreneur. Again, the call to action is for women to step up to entrepreneurship and seek out the guidance available through free programs such as the Small Business Administration, SCORE and many state and local business assistance programs. One one woman wins al women win.
