Barbara Lang - Biggest Success

I feel like I've had many successes since I started my business but I suppose I would say that the biggest one was simply taking an idea (albeit someone else's) and developing it into a legitimate and viable way to earn a good living while still enjoying getting up each morning and sitting at my desk. In addition to having a full practice with 8 clients, I continue to strive to educate the small business community on the existence and benefits of working with VAs as well as to establish myself within the VA community as a serious professional. I serve on the board for the Canadian Virtual Assistance Network and run monthly teleclasses for its members. I was asked to lead the Ontario Chapter of AssistU (U.S. Based VA Training Program) and mentor "up and coming" VAs for the International Virtual Assistance Association. I have also presented on several occasions to Employment Resource Centres across the GTA and will be doing a workshop for the International Association of Administrative Professionals in May 2006. Most recently, I was asked to present to a group of academics at Georgian College on the future of Administrative Assistance and was subsequently asked to stay on as a consultant and participate on their Advisory Committee as they work on implementing a Virtual Assistance component into their Administrative Assistance Certification Program. In the Spring of 2006, I will be teaching an online course in Virtual Assistance for Red Deer College in Alberta. My plans for the upcoming year will be focused on marketing Quick Clicks Training classes. I also hope to become an ACT! Certified Consultant over the next 12 months if my research shows that it continues to be one of the top Contact Management Software Products.
