Barbara Lang - Growing Up

I was born in Montreal but moved to Toronto when I was 10 years old. Being the child of exceptionally hard working European Immigrants, I grew up in a middle class family with a strong work ethic. Job security and longevity were very important to my parents and you stayed at your job until it was time to retire. My father is a very organized and meticulous individual. He has an insatiable desire to learn something new every day. Although the majority of his career was spent in the IT industry, he uses his retirement time to learn new things such as speaking Cantonese, studying mycology or keeping up to date on the latest and greatest technology. Even after retiring from a successful career in the food and beverage industry, my mother continues to be extremely active. She's constantly doing something. My older sister (and only sibling) has worked for the same company for over 2 decades and has spent most of her life cultivating an extremely successful career which she enjoys. I think that my family has given me the qualities that I need to be a successful entrepreneur, namely being organized, self-motivated, professional, well grounded and generally happy and interested in what life has to offer.
