<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">My brother and I both have engineering backgrounds. Dayton (the creative director) is a Chemical engineer from the Univ. of Toronto and I have a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the Univ. of Waterloo. We grew up in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and after coming to Toronto about 10 years ago, completing our degrees and working in the industry for a while, decided to start our own company and have never looked back since. Growing up in the Middle East was great. Its just like living in Canada, except that the weather is always warm and you need a license to buy alcohol.<br/>
<br/>I also had the opportunity to study in India for 4 years at Birla Institute of technology. University in India is very challenging because everyone is vying for the best grades, jobs, GRE scores and scholarships at North American grad schools. Thankfully, I made the cut at Waterloo and wrote a masters thesis on semi conductor device characterization (call me for an explanation sometime).</div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Get smart, get focused, then just do it.... Don't just think about it, DO IT and don't stop... Things won't always go to plan. You may find success early, but it's what you're willing to do in the long run that will ensure your survival. Being an entrepreneur isn't about getting rich quick, it's about building a sustainable future where you are the boss and you have the freedom and confidence to make important decisions. You may lose accounts, or clients, treat these as learning experiences and make sure that you dont make the same mistakes again. I took the small business course with BizLaunch www.bizlaunch.ca and found it payed dividends in helping me make business decisions... Id recommend it to anyone.</div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">I'm very proud to say that just finished writing my first book about being the consummate home bartender which will be on shelves in early 2006 (Maran's Illustrated Bartending Thompson.) but my Hospitlaity School BartenderOne is definetly my biggest success. We're growing quickly and student feedback is phenomenal! I've been very lucky to have some great media exposure along the way. More than half of the feedback I received from those articles and shows was training related, which told me that there was a big hole in the market for effective bartender training. Essentially bartending schools were a joke, and there was a need for a place to provide real training that was relevant today to both consumers and more importantly employers. We currently have 3 locations for the school and plan to be Canada wide in 2008.</div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">As a bartender at a club, you're only really busy a few nights a week. That gave me a lot of time to think about other ways to make money. One busy Christmas season, I was putting on a Flair Bartending Show at work for a corporate party, and was asked to perform for another party later that week. That lead to three other referrals and the company has continued to grow since. We currently have over 25 world class entertainment flair bartenders, perform at more than 300 events a year and we work with some of Canada's largest event and party planners to provide entertainment you won't find anywhere else.</div>
