Sergio Medrano - Starting The Business

I decided to become an entrepreneur when I realized that the reason why my grandfather had a nice big house and most of his workers didn't was because he was the one who owned the business. That was seventh grade. I didn't know what the word entrepreneur meant. I just knew I wanted to go into business for myself too. By the time I was in eighth grade, I started asking him questions about how he had started his companies. By the time I was in high school, I decided that I wanted to own my own business by the time I turned 30. Without really planning for it, I spent most of my 30th birthday buying the first supplies for our first store. When I suddenly realized that I was fulfilling my dream, I phoned my parents to tell them how happy I felt.

I have had a couple of successes, but also have learned a few hard lessons... While attending French immersion school in Switzerland, I secured a stall at the local Saturday market, organized a shipment of Mexican handcrafts and artworks, and managed to sell everything, making enough profit to pay for a whole summer of backpacking through Scandinavia. I have lost money too, particularly in with multi-level marketing venture that I did not research well before it was too late. Lesson learned.
